Comprised of two distinctly different halves, Redondo Beach homes for sale offer something for just about everyone who wants to live in the South Bay. The two portions of the city are connected via a very thin strip near the intersection of 190th street and Pacific Coast Highway.

North Redondo Beach is located just to the east of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach and offers four distinct neighborhoods: Villas North, commonly called area 151, which is North of Artesia; the Golden Hills (Area 154), which is the area just east of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach and just south of Artesia; Villas South, also called area 152, which is South of Artesia and East of the Golden Hills; and El Nido, also known as area 153, which is on the Eastern side of Redondo Beach, near the Galleria shopping center and Inglewood avenue. North Redondo has some newer large homes, a great deal of smaller post-war single family homes, some apartment buildings, and a large proportion of two and three on a lot “townhomes” which are condominiums from a legal point of view but often are completely separate from each other with no common walls. Located closer to the freeway access than South Redondo, the North part of town offers shorter commutes to the Westside and downtown Los Angeles and more affordable housing than the South section, due primarily to its distance from the beach.

South Redondo has four distinct areas: the areas West of Pacific Coast Highway, the area East of PCH which is divided up into the parts North and South of Torrance Boulevard, and the Hollywood Riviera section at the base of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. (Parts of the Hollywood Riviera are legally city of Torrance, but all have a Redondo Beach Post Office.) South Redondo Beach is the part of Redondo where you can find Redondo Beach homes for sale with ocean views. Housing stock is primarily two or three on a lot townhomes, smaller 7 or 8 unit complexes, and large 6 story condominium buildings along the famous and beautiful Esplanade. A Redondo Condo can be a wonderful starter home for young marrieds, a second vacation home or a maintenance free home for empty nester.
