Manhattan Beach Mira Costa Section

The Mira Costa section, named for the Manhattan Beach High School which is in the center of this section, is located between Artesia and Manhattan Beach Blvd and between Aviation and Sepulveda. Due to its’ hilly nature, many homes have city lights views. Large 50 x 150 lots are common in this area, although 50 x 100, 50 x 125, etc are also found. This is a very quiet neighborhood for the most part, with many families due to the large yards and convenient access to Pollywog Park from much of the area. The years 2005-2009 saw a recent boom in new construction of large 3500 square foot plus homes in this area – large lots mean there will still be a large yard. However, new building scaled back during the recession, so very few homes were built between 2010 and 2014. There has been a big boom again lately so there are many new options built in 2016 and 2017.

Manhattan Beach Mira Costa SectionThe Mira Costa section has the benefits of convenient access to freeways while still being within a walk or bike ride to beach. There is a special part of the Mira Costa area called “the Poet section” in the Southwest corner of this area — it is so named because many of the streets are named after poets such as Longfellow, Keats, etc. The area has somewhat winding streets and is a little higher elevation so some homes have ocean views. Elementary school (based on availability) is Pennekamp Elementary , Manhattan Beach Middle School and Mira Costa High School are the same for all areas of Manhattan Beach.
